Investigate a small group at Friendship!

A small group is a:

  • Small sub-group within the body of a church family (similar to a room located in a house--a unit)
  • Place to meet new friends and receive a sense of community
  • Intimate setting where you can grow spiritually, emotionally and socially (sometimes, physically, if there are brownies)
  • Great opportunity to discover the Word of God together and relevant applications to our lives
  • Bunch of people who are committed to serve and look out for one another and other with love

As you can see, small groups are more intimate settings where we can study scripture together, pray for one another, and build each other up as God has called us to do. Everyone is at different levels of their journey of faith--not everyone is an expert at the New Testament; not everyone is a prayer warrior. But we come together as small groups to share our journeys and walk alongside one another.

There are several different small groups within Friendship. Small groups meet on a regular basis, usually once every two weeks, at church or at the homes of small group leaders. Groups break for a recess in the summer. For folks with children, childcare is provided.

The More About Jesus small group looks deeper into the Gospels to examine the life (and death) of Jesus. A great place for followers of Jesus young and old, as well as people who are exploring Jesus and what it means to follow him.

The Upper Room group focuses on studying the Bible and praying for one another. This group is a welcome place for new church members and attendees looking to get plugged in a little more in the the Friendship fold. Pizza apparently precedes each bi-monthly meeting; other social events are organized as well.

The Support and Recovery group provide an environment for support, healing and growth through a group focused on a particular need. Members read and discuss books together, applying observations and principles to personal and church life. A trusted circle of people who are willing to be vulnerable with one another and help each other through difficult times.

The Women's Bible Study is a place where women can bond together in scripture and sharing of their lives. Member also reach out together to elderly and shut-in groups with concerted gift assemblies like fruit baskets.

Not to be left out, the Men's Prayer Breakfast is an opportunity for male folks both young and old to fellowship over bagels, study prepared materials, and pray and discuss issues that face them personally, as well as the neighborhood and church.
